Feedback for images

Hi all,

I am looking for a stack that allows ONE single visitor to give positive or negative feedback for each image in a gallery.

The point is that you can show a customer a gallery in which he can mark desired and undesired images accordingly.
So far I have used either Montage 2 or Shutter for galleries.

I know there are these rating stacks that you could use to do this. Unfortunately, at least for me, they don’t work properly on the corresponding test pages. This means that either one of my clicks is not counted or it takes two clicks to be counted. When I visit the page again, the counter is the same as before my click.

The new (unreleased) Imogen plugin I have developed (the successor to ImageWizard and several others) lets you add singular images to your websites. With the option of ‘like’ buttons under each image. These ‘like’ buttons can be shown to all users, or you can restrict their presence to people who are logged-in to your website or browsers that have been cookied accordingly. When a ‘like’ button is clicked, its count instantly increments by 1 and the new count gets recorded to a database. Local storage is used to monitor which images the user has liked, in a stringently privacy-compliant way.

These ‘like’ buttons look and function a lot like what you see on Instagram and YouTube. They are built into the plugin, so you don’t have to try to source additional addons from elsewhere. Everything you need to make it work is included. Setup is easy if the user guide is followed. No code is involved in their setup.

What was setup in Imogen was working really well and I got super-positive feedback from the Beta testers. So I have added support for image likes to the forthcoming Pro Gallery 4 update too. Like buttons in Pro Gallery 4 look and work almost identically to how things are handled in Imogen. The difference with Pro Gallery is that it deals with the setup of multiple images (in gallery format), whereas Imogen handles images singularly (one image for each instance of the plugin).

Both are scheduled for release sometime in conjunction with RapidWeaver Elements and / or Stacks Pro, subject to the normal terms and conditions. Currently they are compiled to work under Stacks 5 in RapidWeaver 8 or RapidWeaver Classic. Several people are using them in “live” websites already.

The consensus from testers was that they wanted website users to ‘like’ an image only once, and not have the ability to ‘unlike’ an image afterwards or downvote other images. Feedback was that downvoting adds a negative psychology to the website experience. I am comfortable with what those testers told me, and inline with their wishes, that won’t be changing.

I don’t want other developers stealing my ideas, so I have private messaged you the screenshots of both plugins, as proof that they exist in a pre-release state.
