In the V1 Gallery I think you could select the Caption and Author to display in the Lightbox?
These seem to have disappeared in the V2 gallery as the option is only offered on Thumbnails.
Will they be making a comeback in the Lightbox at some point?

Not sure… we didn’t want to make the built-in Gallery too complex. We can see either us or a third-party creating a super pro gallery that does EVERYTHING in the future.
We’re open to adding in features to the basic gallery, we just didn’t want to overload it with options we felt most people wouldn’t want…
OK, it was just that I had that option set in the V1 Gallery and when I updated to the V2 Gallery it had done a runner.

Yes, I would like to be able to write captions and at the very least be able to number the images. I can see how down the road someone will create a gallery with more customized features, but the base gallery should still be useable. At the moment I use the gallery in the Lode Theme for Rapidweaver.

I am using v2 (As far as I can see) and the Display Caption/Author are there. Where does it get the caption from?

It does have the Author & Caption for the Thumbnails but not the Lightbox, which it used to do in V1.
You can add the Author and Caption by going to Resources, right clicking on an image, then Show Info.
