How do I move RapidWeaver to a new Mac?

If you’ve recently acquired a new Mac and want to set up RapidWeaver just like it was on your old machine, don’t worry! Follow these simple steps to get started:

Overview

RapidWeaver is portable, which makes moving it easy. Here are the main components you’ll need to move over to your new Mac.

  • RapidWeaver.app
  • Themes/Plugins/Add-ons
  • Project files
  • Licenses/Serial keys

Step 1 - Install RapidWeaver on Your New Mac

Download RapidWeaver Classic from our website onto your new Mac.

Once downloaded, install RapidWeaver into the Applications folder, you will be promoted for your license number when you launch it for the first time.

If you don’t have your license number to hand you can log into the Account Manager (all you need is your email address), once logged in, click on the “orders” tab to find your license number.

If you have any problems, please email support and we can look up your license number for you.

Step 2 - Copy Add-ons

  1. On your old machine, launch RapidWeaver and go to Settings → Add-ons.
  2. Click the “Reveal in Finder” button.
  3. Select all the folders and right-click to compress them.
  4. This will create a .zip file that you can move to your new Mac via thumb drive, AirDrop, or email.

Step 3 - Install Add-ons on Your New Mac

  1. On your new Mac, go to RapidWeaver → Settings → Add-ons.
  2. Click the “Reveal in Finder” button.
  3. Open the .zip file and copy/paste the folders into the “Addons” folder.
  4. If prompted, select “Replace” to overwrite existing files.

Step 4 - Activate Add-ons

Activate your add-ons by transferring your licenses from your email or order lookup on each developer’s website.

Step 5 - Move Projects Over

To move your project files, follow these steps to ensure everything is transferred correctly:

  1. In the RapidWeaver project, go to the project’s settings and check “copy into the document” for the “Site resources” option to avoid missing images.
  2. Right-click on the file and compress it, and then move the .zip file over. On the new Mac, open the .zip file to access your project.
