hello, I am using RW8, and I am making a section that will offer PDF files for visitors to download. I was wondering if there is a best way to do this, and if I should first zip the files somehow, or just leave them as PDFs? Thank you!
There are a lot of ways to let visitors download files & PDF’s. Best is probably to share the PDF’s as Zip files, I like True Download as it keeps a count of how often they have been downloaded. But if you do a simple Forum search, this question has been asked and answered and you can find more solutions.
OK, thank you.
I store the PDF files in my Google Drive account. With a link to these in the RW project, it allows visitors to view and download the PDF’s and as they are on Google Drive, they don’t take up space on my hosting server.
An example here:

It may not suit but remember that Rapidweaver also has a built in File Sharing page type which you can use to provide links to PDFs.
I forgot about that. I’ll have to check it out and see if it might work for my use. Thank you!
That sounds like a good idea. I’ll have to keep that in mind when I decide the best way to go for my project. Thank you, and for the example too!
Thought I’d add my issue to this thread since it has to do with PDFs. I’ve been adding a PDF in resources, and then linking to them. Has been working no issues for years. Now after I’ve published the updates, go to a browser and click on the PDF, I’m getting this error message. This is a screen grab which I think I can include
Any thoughts what is going on and how I can fix this?
If you happen to be using Foundation 6, there is a setting in the Link button to force the download of whatever you are linking to.
I’m running RW 8.8. IDK what Foundation 6 is.
Do you have a URL to a page with the link?
Foundation 6 is another framework.
It has more power and flexibility I think, although I’m not a user.
