Photo Album-why does Thumbnails cut off top of photos?

Why does the built-in Photo Album page cut off the tops of photos in thumbnail? In this gallery here:

The images are sized 467 x 700 so these are not square images, which of course would not have a problem. However even with a vertical landscape photo, you would think there would be a way of adjusting a setting so that the tops of heads aren’t cut off in a thumbnail. Is there a way to do this?

In the General settings for the Photo Album page there is a tick box to use square thumbnails. Thumbnails look much neater like this but something is going to have to be chopped off to make a rectangular image square. Untick it and see what it looks like - if all images are the same orientation and proportion they should look fine.
