Publishing Insists upon republishing all 5143 pages!

Thanks.

This may be a bit of a red herring but thatā€™s a really old theme youā€™re using. The Clean theme from RW. I wonder if itā€™s finally starting to play up after all those years of service?

Itā€™s still listed in the theme library under RW8 and it still seems to work, more reliably than Facebook, which I realize isnā€™t really saying that much.

The publishing logs come as three files attached to an email addressed to RWSupport. Problem is, one of those files is 7GB and another nearly 50MG. Canā€™t send files that big. david

You can place them in a folder on a cloud-based server like OneDrive, Sync, Dropbox, etc, etc and grab the shared link and send that. Iā€™m on an iPad now, but if I remember there is a clear support logs, I think itā€™s in the help menu item.

If you clear them and then republish the logs should be much smaller.

Tagging @dan, @Aaron and @tpbradley this will let them know theyā€™re coming.

Iā€™m pretty sure it was included in the first version of RW I bought which was 3.6. I still wouldnā€™t be surprised if it wasnā€™t at least partly to blame for the problem youā€™re experiencing.

The Clean theme is listed in the Classic section of the theme library, so although itā€™s included I think itā€™s more there to help users change from that old theme to newer versions.

It hasnā€™t been updated in quite sometime and isnā€™t responsive, I know there is the adage of ainā€™t broke, donā€™t fix it but so much has changed it since 2006, maybe a new and up to date theme may not be a bad idea.

Hopefully the log files will yield an insight to your issues.

Yes. Thanks again. Republishing to generate fresh logs.

Itā€™s puzzling, because no obsolescence notice went out to users. How would a regular user, like me, for instance, know their theme was out-dated? I appreciate learning and I might just upload the thing using a newer Theme, though I sure wish one of the newer ones was a clean as the one Iā€™ve been using. Thanks for your interest and help.

Moving to a more modern theme would certainly help people who visit the site using mobile devices since the Clean theme isnā€™t responsive.

Iā€™d try and get to the bottom of your publishing problem first and then perhaps consider a switch. There are plenty of ā€˜cleanā€™ themes, for example this one, that you might consider.

Good luck.

RW Tech Supportā€™s been unresponsive, so I looked back at their advice for the last RW problem I reported. They advised that I restart my computer. I did, and the switch apparently reset itself. I know that this fix is the rough equivalent of whacking on the machine with a ball peen hammer, but it seems to have worked. The Publishing function had otherwise ceased functioning.

Thanks for the helpful advice and perspectives. As a result of this difficulty I now know that my theme is outdated. Iā€™ve learned what the term responsive means in a RW context. Iā€™ve started shopping for a newer theme, though the prospect of spending the next couple of years stabilizing a new theme seems daunting. david

I experience this from time to time so interested in this post. Normally when I publish, RW will only publish the changed pages in my project. My scenario today was updating 2 pages (one of which was an Easy CMS Admin page) then when I went to publish instead of publish RW insisted on repuplishing all 447 files in the project. Iā€™m using RW 8.8.3 OS 10.14.6. Any ideas @isaiah / @bon / @joeworkman ? Many thanks!
