Re-importing changes in html in theme

I intend to make some changes in the html code e.g.adding other links than just our e-mail address at the bottom of each page. How can I re-import the site containing the changes made in html in a way that these changes will remain also when updating the site at a later stage? The site I am working at: http://www.mediationregionoord.nl - theme used: Tesla. Thanks for your help.

Hi Steven,

I’m not sure I follow 100% of what you’re saying here:

How can I re-import the site containing the changes made in html in a way that these changes will remain also when updating the site at a later stage?

I’ll try to offer some advice anyway though:

  • If you make the changes in the contents of the theme file directly, they’ll remain there even if you update the contents of your RW project. Having said that, if you update the theme itself to a new version released by the dev, your changes will be overwritten.
  • You can add HTML directly in the “Footer” input in the site settings area under “General”. If you update the theme at a later date, that won’t be overwritten. e.g. <a href="http://twitter.com">Twitter</a>

Hope that helps,
— Elliot

Thanks for your help! New to RW I didn’t realize how much I can change per page in the code in RW. Meanwhile I found out. So I don’t have to worry anymore about re-importing pages from a special html editing program. Steven
