Strange behaviour with external links

I have a friend who uses RW. He’s creating external links in the usual RW way - select text/object, right click, bring up add link box, choose URL option, insert url of external link, publish.

The problem is that when published the new link has acquired a prefix of the source page, eg. https://www.nameofsite.co.uk/pageinquestion/https://www.externallinkurl.co.uk/pagename/

I hope I have explained that okay. Any ideas what’s going on?

Sounds like he didn’t complete the page url on the General page.

Asked friend to check - but he confirmed full url is in place, so it’s not that.

Without a URL or at least a screenshot of what the link dialog looks like it’s hard to say.
