Using an image of different size for Banner?

OS 10.13.6 High Sierra

hi,

In Mountains Theme the recommended size. for the Banner is: 1080*720.

Can I still use this theme (or any other) and use an image of my choice (which is 977 x 235) and I scale it up to 1080 x 260 ?

Or should I not put it into Banner, but ’manually’ in HOME maybe ?
