Cannot install stacks in RW6

It has been many years since I’ve used RW.

Upon opening RapidWeaver 6, I see that it is missing stacks.
I have stacks for RapidWeaver six in my Finder and when I double click on it it says that it is installed but it does not show up in RapidWeaver.

The themes that I have purchased in the past that requires stacks show up as blank.

Please help

---- update ---- can’t imagine why software (stacks) that were formerly installed and working fine, have disappeared. Additionally, when I try to install freshly downloaded stacks that are supposed to be for RW6, it says “installation failed”… I’m thinking seriously about not only not upgrading to RW9… but dumping Rapidweaver altogether and using something like WIX or other. this is nuts! What is really sad is I have a ton of full-blown websites that were developed in 2015 and 2016 that I can no longer get access to and cannot republish them or duplicate them and create a new site… I’m pretty pissed off here

2 hours later.
Not sure what this forum is for, since 7 of you have viewed it but nobody has had any suggestions. Additionally, the YourHead help page defaults to a discord page that is inaccessible. I had YEARS of experience with RW from 2013 through 2017, and although it had its share of frustrations, I got a lot of work done and published a number of nice looking sites. The help forums were loaded with folks (including myself) that were ready to help others solve problems… clearly that is no longer the case and I’m guessing that the following for RW isn’t what it used to be. What a pity.

Screw it.
I’m moving on.
Good luck with this god-awful quagmire of code.

But RW6 is already quite old … Which operating system are you using?
Anyway, I would upgrade to RW 8 … I’m sure you’ve noticed that some changes are pending here. RW Classic will still be supported for some time. But I think RW8 is good to work with for the time being.

But coming from RW6 … is not easy.
Where have you been all these years … ?

I can kind of understand your anger, but I don’t think it’s so fair … Good luck, however.

Hi @TrippTraders,

Most of us don’t work for Realmac Software and do this in our own time, from a heart towards the community. Please keep that in mind before attacking anyone who isn’t serving up a satisfactory answer. Realmac themselves are off for the weekend, and are on UK (GMT+0) time. You posted this just as their weekend began, so they’ll probably read it and respond on Monday. Patience is key here - there is no 24/7 service level agreement after all.

Now to your problem.

Which version of Stacks are you trying to install? And have you moved RapidWeaver to your Applications folder?

RW6 is not compatible with the latest releases of Stacks. It’s quite old, as we’re currently on V9 (and each version lasts a couple of years too) with a new version in public beta at the moment.

So, in short:

  • Move RapidWeaver to your Applications folder and launch it from there
  • Make sure you have the appropriate version of Stacks installed. According to this page on Yourhead’s website, you can not go beyond Stacks v3.6 if you’re on RW6. Stacks v4 requires RW7 or higher for example.
  • Install Stacks by downloading it, and double clicking it from the downloads folder. RW6 should pop up a window asking you if you wish to install it. Confirm that, and relaunch RW6 by quitting it from the dock and launching it again.
  • Stacks should now be installed.

Cheers,
Erwin
