Elements and stacks

Ok this is a play on the other topic of the same name, but I thought it would be interesting to ask.

Over the years the community adopted the naming convention of Stacks with a capital S to refer to the plugin, and stacks with a lowercase s to refer to the individual stacks built for the plugin.

I’m wondering if the same thing is going to happen for RapidWeaver Elements, in that the community will use Elements with a capital E to refer to the app, and then elements with a lowercase e to refer to the individual elements built for the app.

I guess we’ll see as time progresses, just curious if the same thing will happen. Is there even a better way to differentiate the app Elements from the individually built elements?

It’s a fun question, here’s my thoughts…

The app will just be known as “RapidWeaver” and the addons will be called “Elements”.

We’re calling it “RapidWeaver Elements” for now to avoid any confusion with “RapidWeaver Classic”, but maybe in the future we’ll just call it “RapidWeaver”.

I’m interested to hear what others think!

Hi @dang and @dan without « g ». Well, an element is a part of a whole. But a global that should be a whole is an element that is repeated elsewhere. With the difficulty of identifying an element that is also a global in the entire sidebar that presents the whole globally. Rapidweaver is a globally whole made up of elements that need elements to make the global thing work as a whole. Maybe “Rapid” is no longer globally necessary.

I had to take an ibuprofen after reading all that. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Then we could look at it this way, In chemistry.
In chemistry, several elements make up a compound. A compound is a substance formed when two or more different chemical elements are chemically bonded together. Here are some key points:

  • Elements: Pure substances consisting of only one type of atom.
  • Compounds: Substances formed from two or more elements that are chemically bonded in fixed proportions.
  • Chemical Bonds: The connections between atoms in a compound, including ionic bonds, covalent bonds, and metallic bonds.
  • Molecular Formula: A representation of the number and type of atoms in a molecule of a compound (e.g., H₂O for water).

Compounds have distinct chemical properties and structures, which are different from the properties of the individual elements that make them up.

So we could say Rapidweaver Compound the app LOL.
hope this does not scare anyone

Compound would have been a fitting name for what is now called a Global - but for science nerds like me only I think

Or maybe RapidWeaver Solution the app made with elements and compounds?

In any case we cannot call it a precipitate since the time we are waiting for a release.
