Hiding the Banner in Aspen Theme

Hi Guys,

Likely a very “duh” sort of question, but here goes, anyway:

I’m building a new site based on the Aspen theme (I love the possibilities with its banner), but the banner is exactly the issue: How can I completely hide the banner from all other pages? I don’t want use/show the banner on the homepage itself, but completely remove it from the other pages, but rather use that space for stacks and the like.

I’m assuming there’s an override in the page styles somewhere, but I haven’t been able to find it … and I’m not very good at using css (yet). There’s a button to hide the footer, but none for the banner/header…

Any and all help is much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi @swissrog,

I believe when Nick created the Aspen theme, his vision for Aspen heavily leaned into the banner. As such I believe that’s why there is not an option to hide the banner in the theme settings, as it’s an integral part of the theme.

There is an option to hide the banner image, however there isn’t an option to remove the banner section completely.

You could likely override this with some custom CSS, however I don’t know what downstream effects that would have on other theme elements, and it might not give your visitors a great viewing experience.

There are some options to reduce the banner height in the theme settings, perhaps that would work for your needs?
