How can I add a button to a page that will make a podcast episode on apple play directly rather than just bring me to the page.

That’s not a button really, but an embedded player. If that’s what you want Apple lets you do that - you can just paste the code into an HTML stack.

I got a free player this way (see below) and then changed the color from black to my color of choice)
Go to your podcast Apple Podcasts Preview
Click Episode Website
Click Embed this player (its one of the icons)
