šŸŽ‰ RapidWeaver 7.2 Now Available!

okay re-entered my register information and re-uploaded everything and it works againā€¦

Smooth and troublefree. Performance enhanced, indeed!

Whatā€™s new? Sierra 12.2, After upgrading from 7.1.7 do 7.2.1 My Stacks 2 are gone for good, the app kindly directs me to the download website where I can happily grab the Stacks 3 for $49.95. I tried to rollback from the backup, without any luck. This really annoys me.
best regards
Dominik

After upgrading to 7.2.1 the major problem has been solved: Iā€™ve been able to save the 7.0.4 migrated files.
Butā€¦ I was not able to export and publish the projects. It was OK, there was the possibility to make some further work, even if the publishing was postponed, probably to the next version.
Then I started the migration of the site to RWML 2.0b from some other undefined versions. This meant to move the RWML Entourage from the PlusKit version to the Partial version. Lot of work, but a paying off work.
Eventually some Global content could be transponed too, from Global Content to Partial and, after this further optimizationā€¦ by magicā€¦ the site exported and published!

Iā€™m happy. 7.2.1 is a great upgrade!!

Working well for me. Only issue is that PlusKit (used to import a Page Flux effect) wonā€™t render a blog and contact page in preview mode. Deleted and reentered the import code and the pages rendered perfectly, just without the Page Flux effect. Seems like v7.2 and PlusKit still donā€™t like to play together.

@dan Possible bug: I am not able to publish or export an Off-Site page. Everything else publishes fine, including other plug-in pages like Rapidbot and Sitemap and of course all my Stacks pages.

I tried turning off Minify CSS and Consolidate CSS, but it didnā€™t make a difference - still did not publish the page. Re-started RW but it still wouldnā€™t publish the Off-Site page.

This was odd: I noticed that at first the Off-Site page showed correctly as a blank page in edit mode, but a short while later when i switched back to edit mode for that page it was actually previewing the rendered page that it redirects to (Itā€™s a custom 404 page). Then when i tried to ā€œView Sourceā€ RW did not respond. Finally after previewing some other pages I was able to ā€œView Sourceā€ on the Off-Site page and copied the code into a text editor and published that page, which is now working fine as my Off-site page.

After Iā€™m done getting my site configured I will try adding another Off-Site page and see if that page will publish.

Edit: Just wanted to clarify that RW says that all files have been published and RW does not crash - it just never publishes the page.

Based on your report, just tested an offsite page to see what would happen. I export to the desktop, and then FTP. Mine worked fine:

Even more astonishingly, the version of my site that is currently up still uses the JW Tumblr stack. It is still working. Maybe Tumblr decided not to be so mean after all:

Thanks very much for letting me know itā€™s working for you. And you are using RW 7.2 as well?

I guess itā€™s something peculiar to my system, site or page. Iā€™ll have to dig deeper and see. This same configuration for the Off-Site page redirecting to a Custom 404 page worked fine on another site with RW6, so I am a bit puzzled.

Yes, 7.2.1. Just upgraded.

Well itā€™s back crashing again. Not a good sign. Sorry I updated.

Sorry to hear. I have been on this version Version 7.2.1 (18493) since it first came out and it has been running very smoothly. No crashes, no huge full uploads, just humming along, updating single pages. This on four different projects I am running. Keeping my fingers crossed, as I donā€™t want to jinx it.

As it seems to take 72hrs before one gets a response using the ā€œofficialā€ means I decided as per advise by the company to repeat my message as this for a newby is extremely disappointing, spending about Ā£80 for an application that does not work, because it is not updated on the Apple store.

ā€œI bought RapidWeaver 7.2 (18489) yesterday on the Apple store. I quickly realized that I have the dreaded crash on publish problem. After reading the forums I went to the Realmac site and downloaded and installed Version 7.2.1 (18493). And yes this version does not have the problem. However it asks for a license key, and guess what! The version on the Apple Store doesnā€™t have one that I can use (do not know where it is stored). I decided to first contact you this way, but if not urgently resolved will post a message on the Apple store site to encourage to have latest versions there as well, or the possibility to provide license keys. I sincerely hope that this is resolved asap.ā€

It would probably be very useful if youā€™d provide license codes for the Apple store versions as well, so we can download and install latest from your site in case you forget to upload it to their store!

I didnā€™t upgrade because of all the bad press RW7 get by the reviewers I respect. Now I need to wait again to see how it goes. Iā€™m not going to lose all my work or mess with my clients trust just for an upgrade. Time will tell

Canā€™t you just update RW through the menu on the version you got from the app store? There is an option to update through an existing version without downloading from the Realmac website.

Thatā€™s how I updated, and I havenā€™t had any problems at all.

Realmac will have submitted the 7.2.1 update to Apple at the same time it was released to non MAS users but apps AND updates that are on the MAS have to be approved by Apple before they appear to the public. The Apple approval team officially shutdown during the holiday season (Iā€™m not sure of the exact dates) and no new apps or updates to existing ones are processed during this period.
Whilst the version numbers and user functionality are the same the 2 apps (MAS and non-MAS) are different and cannot be updated from differing sources ie the MAS version 7.2 cannot be upgraded to 7.2.1 from the Realmac site and visa versa, in fact if youā€™ve done so youā€™ve broken your MAS version and the MAS will no longer recognize it as ā€˜one of its ownā€™

It is my opinion that you need to delete RapidWeaver from your Applications folder and download the 7.2 again from the MAS and them wait for Apple to approve the 7.2.1 update. THIS IS AN OPINION NOT AN INSTRUCTION.

Dear Neil, for some reason when I try to use the ā€œupdateā€ it goes to a site with an error. I guess this has to do with the fact I bought it using Apple Store.

Dear Paul,

Thank tyou for the explanation which confirms my fears. Updates on Aople store are not in sync with those on the site. THis is disappointing and I wonder if it would help to leave a message on the Apple store to not purchase it from there as you may suffer like I did to have a non funcitonal applicaiton while spending your good money. I strongly believe there is to be a case to be made here as I really do not want to spend money on something that does not work. If Apple checks the applicaiton it should also remove it from its site when not working for those buying it at full price! I can only conclude that this is extremely disappointing and frustrating to say the least. I will explore how to get funds back and look for something that works.

Cheers

Look at your receipt Apple e-mailed to you. Right below your purchased item, click on report a problem. If you report it they should give you a refund if you tell them it does not work.

Dear Doug,

Thank you, just looked at my invoice and clicked on the link. Order did not yet appear on my order list on the store website but guess it will do so in the next few days allowing me to get a refund and purchase something that works. Pity really as RapidWeaver really looked useful!

Cheers

Whilst not having a go at you directly I get really pissed with statements like this, go look in the gallery at the sites that have been made with this non working software, in fact hereā€™s a couple of complete failures of my own that clearly show just how bad RW is.
