I’ve read that contrary to popular opinion Favicons can be any of the following formats .ico .gif .png .jpg
RapidWeaver 7 however won’t let me use anything but an .ico format (the only format I can not create with with the software I have, Photoshop Elements).
Why won’t RapidWeaver allow the use of these other formats?
I’m pretty sure you can just rename your .jpg favicon to .ico after you’ve created it.

Thanks NeilUK this does seem to work! Although it’s not clear to me why RapidWeaver won’t accept any other favicon file format to begin with.
RapidWeaver 8 has redone the entire web icon area.
