Rec A changement

Hello all,
yesterday I have renewed a domain, without renew the hosting, I want to put the web site on another hosting that I already have. My provider said to me to change the DNS REC A name, I have inserted the same DNS of my hosting and I have published the web site setting the right value on rapid weaver publishing interface. DNS is 94.23.66.212 and website is www.gecoluce.it .
The site seem to be non secure, i did modify the ht.access file in this way: RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.gecoluce.it/$1 [R=301,L] but probably a redirect is needed… Any helps? This is the window about security certificate:

The certificate doesn’t match your domain. Is there a way of generating an SSL cert for your domain own the new hosting? Does it have Let’s Encrypt included?

What is let’s encrypt…?

Free SSL certificates that any host worth bothering with would provide free of charge.

Who are you hosting with now?

Thanks Neil, looks interesting. I’ll give it a try.

Your host should provide SSL certificates. You should check with them to see if they do and how to install one for you.

The advise say that my website is non secure (not in a private mode)… could it be a matter of ht.access file to modify…?

It’s has nothing to do with htaccess or redirects, it’s the SSL certificate that is being flagged.

???

All my web site are hosted by OVH

If it’s this one https://www.ovh.it/hosting-web/, they do provide free SSL certificates. You need to get them to install it or install it yourself through your hosting panel. Nothing else will solve your problem.

Hi I had the same problem, so I contacted my host and the solved it, this usually happens when new site is uploaded.

John
