Hello, I installed version 8.1.4 this morning (downloaded from the official website). I then opened a website that opened perfectly under RW 8.0.3.
Opening at 8.1.4, I have an information panel asking me to point to my resources. What I do, with a UNIQUE main folder named “Imports”, placed next to the RW file and in which there are subfolders corresponding to large sections of the website and containing in all about 400 files.
If I click on “Scan Folder”, and therefore pointing to the “Imports” folder … nothing happens! …
WHY! … THANK YOU FOR WHY! …
Only solution, point the files ONE BY ONE and relink, ONE BY ONE! … BUT IT IS ABSOLUTELY STUPID! …
Do you know where all your resource files actually are? In my case they were in a folder in Dropbox, which had several subfolders. I didn’t need to point at each individual resource, just at the root folder and RapidWeaver then found them all. Took about 3 seconds with each individual project. It was a while ago now, but I think when the box pops up asking you to relink, the instruction mentions pointing at the root folder. When the resource is found a green line of text appeared saying “resource available”. Nothing else needed to be done.
I persevere because I want to understand (and possibly help, if possible)! …
I just opened another website (much simpler and basic) with RW 8.1.4.
As for my other websites managed with RW, there is an “Imports” folder on my iMac containing all the graphic resources (images and videos). This “Imports” folder is in the Finder next to the RW file. For this very basic website, all the resources are in it and there is no other subfolder. NO SUBFOLDER! …
When opening my file (8.0.3) with RW 8.1.4, the application asked me to redo the links by proposing to point to my “Imports” folder … and he found ALL import … EXCEPT those concerning Web Icons (why?).
Question: would not there be a problem under RW 8.1.4 when resources are in subfolders? …
Hi, I just downloaded from the official servers https://www.realmacsoftware.com/rapidweaver/releasenotes/ and installed the latest version of RW 8.1.5.
With the same website of “test” (which I continue to maintain in parallel, but under RW 8.0.3 for more security), I still have bugs and misunderstandings with the PARTICULAR management of resources! Opening my file, the dialog informs me of a problem of links with the resources. OKAY. It’s nice !.. I then point to the one and only folder containing all the graphical sources of my site, all placed at the same level without any subfolder. RW restores the links of most files (it’s really very good) … except those concerning Web-Icons! … And if I remove all the icons of this section Web Icons, that I close the file, then I reopen it … RW always asks me to recreate the links! … And what is incomprehensible is that these files are not used IN my website BUT only in the site settings, section Web Icons ! …
I also realized that these resources were also listed several times! …
There must be corruption (or messy management) in the database of resources! … And that’s a shame, really! …
NB: in the interface listing all the graphic resources, there is a confusing information, written in gray, just below the file path: “UnKnown Volume”. Questions: What is this information? … Is it wrong? … How to use it wisely? …
In the state, I remain under RW 8.0.3. And I’m waiting for spring to wake everyone up …
I just opened my second test RW file/site. This one as explained above contains a few hundred graphics and videos. These resources are all placed in a single folder, BUT CLASSIFIED under in subfolder corresponding to product types.
And Oh surprise, RW finds the links of the vast majority of the sources, and it is really very well. Thanks to the developers …
But there are still resources that have no link and, in my test site, it corresponds to a page of my website that I have been very long suppressed, there may be 4-5 years! … There must be traces that do not correspond to anything in the file. Out of curiosity, I applied a method that, a long time ago, worked with … PageMaker or QuarkXpress: “Save as” the file under another name … but it did not change anything except that the new file is bigger (?) than the original whereas one could expect on the contrary! …
