I have a page with a stack set to be hidden on mobile.
It is hidden when viewed on mobile in portrait, but it is not hidden when viewed in landscape.
(Maybe in landscape it is close enough to tablet size)
Is there something I can do about this?
I’m sure that’s what’s happening.
The stacks visibility’s setting are strictly based on screen width and not on the actual type of the device being used.
It’s a little misleading with titles like ”mobile”, ”tablet” and ”desktop”, especially nowadays, with such a huge screen size variety. We have enormous phones that have screen sizes as large as some tablets. The latest iPadOS uses the desktop user agent.
So as for the default stacks visibility settings you should think of them as small medium and large screen sizes and not devices.
Is there a reason why you don’t want something displayed on mobile devices? From a design perspective why’d you care if it’s a phone or a small desktop browser window or tablet?
Thanks for your very helpful reply.
The site has long used clickable product images, particularly on the home page, as the basis for site navigation
Which is fine on desktop but very cumbersome for mobile users which are an increasing proportion of the site’s users.
So I was trying to have separate mobile friendly navigation. But it seems I really need to do a rethink about the site overall.
