I’m using True Download 2 (v1.0.5) from @Doobox with Stacks 4 and RW 8.3 and my zip-file downloads have stopped working. I believe I am using absolute links, with https. Not sure when they stopped working… hadn’t checked for a while. Does anyone see anything wrong at https://www.pennydoula.com/brochures.html ?
The download links work fine for me. Mac OS and Safari. Seem a bit slow to start the download (i.e. not instantaneous, more like 2 seconds) but quick enough.
Your site worked for me (I didn’t test every link ), and i use it also without a problem on my site.
Seems fine here also. Try clearing your browser cache if a simple page refresh does not see the stack working for you.
If you still see an issue, can you be more specific about exactly which button, browser your using, and the exact url you are on at the time, copied and pasted from the browser bar.
Non working for me - OS X 10.13.6 / Chrome Version 76.0.3809.132 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Doesn’t work for me. MacOS 10.14.6 and Safari 12.1.2, Firefox 69.0, Chrome 76.0.3809.132 and MS Edge 78.0.276.2
Many thanks to all for weighing in so quickly! I can’t explain why it is working for some of you and not for others. It is working for me now so I assume it was a cache-related problem.
Under Mac OS X 10.14.6 (Mojave), Firefox 69.0 works as expected, Opera 63.0 likewise, also Chrome 76.0.3809.132. Interestingly, Safari 12.1.2 automatically unpacks the zip and both downloads and displays the pdf (not the zip!).
In any case, many thanks for your attention!
Rob for Penny.
The Safari behavior is typical and has been the case for several years. I don’t remember: it may be due to a preference you set in Safari. At any rate all my downloads, if Zips, auto-expand. If it is a single PDF it auto-opens in my default reader.
But the buttons were a bit slow it seems to me. If I click a download I expect “something” to happen right away. That is I seem some download activity going on, even if the download takes awhile to complete. I don’t think this is due to True Download, but it was kind weird. I don’t know how to explain it. Not necessarily terrible, but also not expected zippy behavior.
I didn’t know that, but yes the behavior must be a preference set because I described what my Mac+Safari does, and my wife Penny’s Mac+Safari just downloads the file.
Button action takes 1-2 seconds here in Arizona, not terrible but not zippy I agree.
Thanks, Rob.
Except it isn’t just Safari. In my case it’s also Edge, Chrome and Firefox.
Hi,
I had the same problems. True Download not working on many of my sites. But finally I found the problem:
All my sites have now a SSL-certificate. So I had to change the link from “http…” to “https…”
Worked for me. Hope it will also work for you.
Regards
Hansjörg
