OK, so “Offline”'s not really the correct term, though I understand for all intents and purposes it is from your point of view.
The index page is reporting a 500 error. Possible causes :
1: You have added something to your htaccess file that is invalid
Did you create any custom code in htaccess file at any time?
2: Your index file has some php code that is invalid, and generates an error.
What stacks do you use in the index page (list them all here). Don’t worry about stacks that ship with the stacks plugin. Just third party stuff.
Have you added any custom code to the index page, either in html stacks, page inspector, or site wide code?
I am assuming the index page is a stacks page?
When I refer to index page I am referring to your home page!
Also: Can you access any of the internal pages in the website?
If not, then the issue is more likely to be something that affects every page, like the htaccess file mentioned above. Or some element you use on every page. Or something you have added to site wide code in RW.
Trying to access a non existent page in your site http://www.jimihendrix-lifelines.net/test/index.html
should return a 404, but it still returns the misconfiguration error, so it does seem like it’s an htaccess issue or something your host needs to address.
Your host can see in an instant from server logs what the error is related to.
Hi Doobox. I do not write html, I’m a strict RW user only. I’m a graphic designer with no code writing experience. My website was running okay until yesterday, but the host upgraded the PHP to 5.6 last night, and now because of that [I assmume] my site is no longer available. Or so it seems. My other websites with the same host are working just fine, although they use a different theme. Which makes me wonder if it’s the old Bravo theme?
To answer your questions:
Did you create any custom code in htaccess file at any time?
No, I would not know how to.
What stacks do you use in the index page
None, as far as I know. The site does use Lockdown, but not on the home page.
Have you added any custom code to the index page, either in html stacks, page inspector, or site wide code?
No, I don’t know how. I’m a very simple user.
I am assuming the index page is a stacks page?
No, it’s a blog page.
Can you access any of the internal pages in the website?
Not sure what you mean here. I can access all the pages of the site through my FTP software, if that is what you mean?
I hope you can get me through this ordeal. Would an upgrade of RW from 5 to 6 solve the problem?
It looks to me like Lockdown is indeed locking down the site. I’d recommend these steps:
Temporarily remove secured content – just to get things back online
Remove lockdown (and any secret pages).
Disable publishing of any secret pages (Click the Draft button in the General Settings to disable publishing.
Delete the .htaccess file.
Log in to your host via ftp or through the hosts web-panel.
Find the file called .htaccess and remove it – at least temporarily.
With a little luck, your site should come back online. From here we can work towards re-adding your secure content and setting up lockdown to work correctly. If you’d like help doing that just contact our support folks: support@yourhead.com
