What would you like to see in RapidWeaver 7?

And only pages?

I have 100 pictures in an album.
Say to RW show only 40 per page.

Results 3 pages (40 + 40 + 20)

Aha; so you’d want to configure this in RW, not on the live website?

—N

Yes, in RW, not live.

Set a maximum of photos per page.
If there are more, RW creates a new next page and the pegination.

This was an issue a long time ago, where the file was sorted as one large blob file on your Mac (we’re talking RapidWeaver 3, here)

This should already be fixed in the latest RW6 update

Thanks, Nik. That was an annoying issue in the past. Glad that it’s been fixed. :+1:

What about fundamental support of SVG graphics? I mean from simply using SVG graphics for the site logo up to using these files in the normal content area of RapidWeaver? It’s about time to be able to use these files as easily as jpg- or png-files, isn’t it?

I would love colour palettes that are tied to specific sites OR even better, a section of the colour palette that is site file specific. That way I can grab ideas from other projects also.

I’d like Rapidweaver to create an htaccess file for me.
It might not be the most visible feature, but I’d like to see more security built into sites created with RW. An htaccess file with ready made options is the most obvious step (there may be others, but I’m not a developer, just a user) to stop unwanted traffic and keep a site secure.
I think security is one way RW, and Realmac, could further lead the way for site creation

Thanks for all these suggestions. A few are actually already on our list

.htaccess files are a tough one: they have the ability to break your website if not configured in a way that your server is happy with. We’ll have a think, but this might not be something we hit for RW7.

Could you elaborate on this? Not sure exactly how you’d want this to work.

I think it will be useful and faster to have an icon to hide/view the source list in the toolbar.
When you use the mouse (or trackpad), it is not so comfortable to type everytime alt-cmd-L (specially if you are used to manage stacks3, where you use mouse all the time).
Thanks

P.S. Maybe you can already do it in RW 6.4?

Rebuild RapidWeaver from the ground up with YourHead Stacks as the fundamental building block of every RapidWeaver page.

  1. The ability to set an interval for the autosave feature. The 10
minute default right now is too interruptive but turning autosave
off completely in response is not good either.
  2. Support for Structured Data.
  3. Support for Open Graph tagging.
  4. The ability to specify where resource files are uploaded (not just
sub-folders of the Resources folder). For example, ā€œapple-iconā€,
ā€œms-iconā€ files and authorisation files need to be uploaded to the
root folder, generic resources could be in the Resources folder but
then electronic files I may want hidden in an obscure folder. It
would be great to drop these various resource-type files into
Rapidweaver Resources so that all of these files can be kept in the
Rapidweaver project file and uploaded to specific locations, rather
than having to manage these files offline and FTP them into their
    folders separately.
  5. Publish only deltas of a page rather than all files associated with
a page every time. For example, if one word changes in a paragraph,
why are all of the images uploaded again?

If you’re seeing this, it’s not something that should be appearing. Please drop us a note with a project file that shows it, and we’ll take a look!

Hi nikf,

Thanks for your reply. It made me go have a deeper look. You’re right, the unchanged images are not being uploaded again with each publish. Phew! I can see however, certain folders that are being uploaded each time I publish, even though I’m sure there are no changes to those specific files. For example, the fontawesome, foundation-icons and the Mustache? folder were completely republished when I removed some meta tags from the page.

A project file would be useful here (along with any stacks etc) so we can take a look at this.

It would be interesting to see how the Realmac platforms (RapidWeaver Ember Typed Typed.com) can work together to make publishing & integration seamless, smooth, as well as fun. It would be challenging, I’m sure; but what if they were all tightly woven and had direct connectivity to each other through a share menu somehow, much like Apple’s ā€˜Media Browser’. I know they are all very different, and there may be plans to integrate some functionality into each, but how far can it go? Why not consider RapidWeaver the workhorse if a user owns it, and the other apps extensions of its reach.

Another example would be all are extensions of a central synchronization service for things like media (Ember), documents (Typed), and publications (Typed.com), with RapidWeaver being the go-to for customizable designs for all.

Just verbosely brain-storming here. Keep up the good work guys!

One thing I forgot to add, at a minimum, integrating RapidWeaver with Typed.com is good, but specifically it could benefit from these:

  • post-publishing (text based)
  • media-publishing (i.e.: photos, videos, etc.)
  • static page-publishing (i.e.: contact form, etc)
