Hooray!!! 8.5.1 has finally fixed my hanging issues! I can switch between preview pages without the beach ball, and having to Force Quit RW!
Massive thanks to @isaiah, who investigated the issue, and was able to pass on specifics to Realmac (and I suspect caused them to take it a bit more seriously than I’d been able to!)
