I have launched a website which includes a contact page. Initially this did not work because of server protocol issues so I included a message on the contact page sidebar giving an alternative means of contact.
Having changed to a new server the contact page started working so I deleted the message on the sidebar and republished the site. Result - nothing changed on the website. I tried deleting the entire contact page and republishing. Result - the contact page and message is still there!
I am a complete novice at website development so could someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong!
Often, contact pages need to use php, and will have to automatically change your page from .html to .php
Unfortunately, you’re not always alerted to this, Rapidweaver doesn’t delete files from your server, and browsers will serve up .html files before .php files.
So, if you’re able to log into your server (via a FTP app, or through your hosts control panel), you may find a duplicate contact page (one with a .html extension, and one with a .php extension). Delete the html and you should be good to go.
Hmm. It doesn’t seem to be a php vs html issue, from what I can tell. I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be saving your text edits. I would normally suggest deleting the text again, marking the page as changed (from the File) menu before publishing (or try Republish All Files). It sounds like you’ve done that already though.
