Does a RapidWeaver website require MySQL support from the server?

Hi everybody,
I’m thinking of buying RapidWeaver and was wondering whether I need a host server for my website that supports mysql. I would prefer not, as the plan without mysql support would be cheaper.
Thank you for your answer!

Hi,

in general you do not need mysql support.

You can extend Rapidweaver websites with Stacks (Add-ons). Some complex Stacks/Add-ons (like a webshop, e.g. http://rapidweavercommunity.com/addons/plugins/rapidcart-pro-4) need mysql support, if you want to use all features. But in general you do not need mysql support.

Hey, thanks very much for the quick answer, that helped a lot.

Hi @galmondia,

Just my 2c as I also landed at this decision point: If you are planning to implement a CMS, online store or a script for booking appointments for example at any point, you would require MySQL support. If you are planning on a basic Rapidweaver site, you probably wouldn’t need it.

Not all CMS solutions require MySQL, although my favourite, Armadillo, does. @joeworkman’s Total CMS does not.

neither does Easy CMS, in case anyone was wondering
