I recently updated my website and added a new page. The show in navigation box is checked in general settings, and it does show in the navigation on every page except the home page. Any ideas?

Have you tried clearing the browser’s cache? Or try a different browser.
You can also try republishing all the files, but it should have done that when you changed navigation.
If cache clearing doesn’t work report back here with a URL.
Log into your server an delete index.html
Index.php is the correct page
You have an index.html file and an index.php file for the home page. The index.php was updated today at 19:11GMT.
This has the navigation item:
http://www.shutterbugstories.com/index.php
The index.html file was lasted updated in 2016.
The index.html file is the default, so delete it.
