I’m using the latest version of RW Classic. I made a few changes to the content of one page in one site and then RW would not publish the page or the site – the publishing screen froze and it said “Transfer failed”. I have not changed any of the publishing settings. I have another RW site and that is still publishing fine – so it’s not an internet problem.
Check the resources you added to the page, sometimes when a resource gets corrupted it will cause the transfer to fail. You could try removing the changes you made and seeing if the page will publish then. If so, you can add your changes back one by one to see if there is a particular change that is causing the problem.
Let us know what you find out.
Thanks. I didn’t add any resources, I simply changed some text.
Later that day I tried again to publish and was successful.
But today, I made a further minor textual change to a different page, and that wouldn’t publish.
This behaviour seems arbitrary. I do not have any internet connection problems or any publishing problems with other RW sites.
If it’s working at some points of the day and not others, it seems a problem outside of RapidWeaver, perhaps a local network issue at certain times of the day, or a problem at the web host. Perhaps their server is getting overloaded or something.
If you’d like we can try to publish the project to our testing server to see if we see any upload issues.
What do you need from me in order to publish the project to your testing server?
It’s not a network issue. I am finding that this site does not publish, and another one does publish, at the exact same time of day. It must be something within the site.
Also I have tested the connection from the Publish screen and this tells me the connection is successful – even though the site itself does not publish. When I try to publish the site I just get the error message: “Couldn’t establish a secure connection to your FTP server.”
Hi @gallifrey55,
You can send us your project file and addons folder per our guide here How to Send or Share Your Project (moved) | Classic Manual and we can test uploading it.
Hi Dang,
I believe I am having a similar issue as @gallifrey55. After making changes to my site and trying to publish I get the “Transfer failed” I then clicked the “I” button in the lower left hand corner of the message screen and received this message, "Safari can’t open the page “https://helprealmacsoftware.com” because Safari cannot find the server “help.realmacsoftware.com”. While attempting to publish the computer power system is at 100% and connected to WiFi. Any possible suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. - Alsis
I am having the exact same problem with the exact same errors.
Are you replacing your server address with help.realmacsoftware.com for privacy or do you actually have that URL entered in your publishing settings? If the latter, then that’d be the obvious answer on why the upload is failing.
If the former, then the error is saying your server address is no longer correct. You’d want to check with your web hosting provider to see if they changed your server address (like the IP address or FQDN) and replace it with the new/correct one if they have.
Could you start a new thread/post with your issue, including screenshots of any errors you are seeing when the publishing fails?
