Site files vanishing? RW 7.1.7(18375)

Tried opening site! Just get this; The document “Site A test” could not be opened.
My 3 sites just vanished!!! I searched for all .rwsw using spotlight! No .rwsw to be found including backups. However, the folders with the site content are still intact, just no executeable file?
My RW 6 files are intact and I can create new sites. but have not got a clue about the vanishing files. Did check the waste bin. The only changes was the latest update to to Sierra OS.

Any clues out there? Can I restore from the published site?

@Robertj - RW 7 files end with a .rw. The .rwsw are for RW 5.
