A republish all files should fix this…,
tried that, preview in safari fine, published site still no content, reset browser history, tried other browsers, Im lost
fixed, had multiple index files on cpanel and deleted php one
You are right that you can not have both php and html versions of the same file. But something tells me that you deleted wrong ones. Usually, if you have both html and php, there was a specific reason for that. Some add-ons force the use of .php extension. They can not work with .html.
