STACKS for dumb beginners (solved)

Hi Eric, I am not saying they should help with the issue, I’m saying they have not told me about the updated version or if I am or was suppose to receive it or for that matter any response at all.

Ususally, a company would reply with some sort of reply regardless if I am stupid or not.

Thanks very much for the request to change the title of my question. At the time my question was about Defligra’s layer stack.

Hi David

Belive I wrote you back on July 7 – you wrote you were using Stacks plugin 1… sorry for my short reply, I’m on holiday but back at the office wednesday or thursday this week.

But let me add a few comments… from my perspective – working with Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator as well as you do. I come from that world too, the traditional graphic line of business. But I’ve been on board on the RapidWeaver train since RapidWeaver version 3.

There’s a huge difference between Photoshops layers and the way you can layer things with the Stacks plugin or webdesign for that matter. It’s two different things.

The closest thing to Photoshop Layers within the RapidWeaver world is the plugin called Blocks from Yourhead Software (Isaiah). But… the Blocks plugin is made before the world went responsive – so in order to create a mobile friendly website with the Blocks plugin you would probably have to create 3 websites – one with a layout targeting desktop computeres, one targeting tablets and one targeting smartphones… and that’s probably why the Stacks plugin is so popular (or one of the reasons) – because it’ll let you build a responsive website = one size fits all… if you do it the right way.

The Layer Stacks is pretty advanced… and nothing like Photoshop Layers. Photoshop works with a canvas with a fixed size… Stacks – as mentioned – works with a responsive canvas = resizable. So in order to layer two other stacks (that’s what the Layer Stack does) you’ll have to make sure that the stacks you layer – is responsive…

If you’re new to RapidWeaver this is probably not where you want to start… you’ll what to start by creating a simple responsive website with the stacks that the Stacks 3 plugin also offers.

As some of the nice fellows has written you’ll need the Stacks plugin to create a Stacks website within RapidWeaver – and work with Stacks. You should give the Blocks plugin from Yourhead a try too.

Ok thank you, again I know I’m a 100% beginner so I apologize for being dumb.

BTW one of you suggested I rename the heading of this question but I do not see a way to do so or delete it if you can explain where this occurs, I’d be greatful.

We all gotta start somewhere. I did too

At the bottom of your first post is a small pencil icon which is where you click to enter the editor and you can edit your post. Hope this helps.

Thanks did it over and out.
