I would like to implement the text overlay like they have on the Nuance theme from Weaverthemes. It requires CSS to do so but I do not know it well enough to implement it. Does anyone have any thoughts?

No, it’s not. It’s a CSS thing they have used. They give details in the tutorials but it’s not this layout. They offer the code for a simpler layout and I cannot find one online that I can use that would replicate the same thing.
