Webpages not displaying changes when published

hi Scott,

Thanks for your response! Yes, the page that loads from main-idea-3 is actually the wrong page. I checked, and there is only 1 index file in that folder. I don’t know what cloud flair is, so I guess I’m not using it. I try to do my publishing with RW and/or Transmit. I am in the process of rebuilding those 3 main idea pages, and then I’ll see what happens. I have the first one almost done. I think then I will delete the old ones, and try to publish the new ones and see what happens. Thanks again!

Humm,
I’m not sure that is possible, my browser shows it is loading the index file in that folder. So I have to assume that is what is in that folder as index.html

I would rename that file and FTP a simple hello world or something to that folder and see if it loads. Obviously if it isn’t loading the new page it’s not getting published to that folder.

You could export it to your hard drive and send it up via FTP as a test also.

The links are working so it has to be that the file in the folder is incorrect since you are not using a cdn like cloud flair.

I’ll take a look at the errors again tomorrow when I have a desktop, but I think it has something to do with double click or similar, probably from the ads.

Hello,

Well, I rebuilt the 3 pages that are similar that weren’t displaying the proper pages from the bottom links, at least for me. The small images were not always displaying properly either for me. Anyway, I believe they are all working correctly now. I have no clue what was going on before, but hopefully they are all working now. I recreated the pages, deleted the old ones, and then published the new ones. I don’t know if it matters, but the pages are index.php pages. I’ll try to include the links to the pages below in case you wouldn’t mind seeing if they work for you.

Anyway, it seems to be working for me now, so I hope it is working for you and everyone else as well.

Would you have any suggestions about what I should do about the http/https thing? I was thinking that it is probably hurting the site in Google, but I don’t know how it even happened or how to fix it.

Thank you again for all your help! I know you, and the others here, have really worked to help me out. Thank You!

They are working :grinning:

I’ll have a look see at the errors tomorrow when I’m not on mobile and see if I can (or can’t ) help.

OK - I appreciate that! I’m finding some minor errors on the other graphic organizer pages on the site, but so far I am able to fix them. I’m just trying to quickly go through them one at a time to check for errors, and fix what I can as I go along. I’m glad the new pages are working for you now. Well, it’s getting late, so I’m going to get ready for bed. I’ll continue checking the other pages tomorrow. Have a good night, and thanks again so much! :woman:

Hi Cynthia,
Almost all of the errors are coming from/caused by adsense. I googled it and found a ton of reports about it but no clear solution.

It looks to me like it is affected by browser and settings because I do not see all the errors in chrome.

In Firefox your ads don’t show, just blank space if tracking protection is turned on. (another pointer to browser settings)

At least in some browsers the ads are showing. Are you receiving clicks in adsense?
If you are registering clicks I probably wouldn’t worry much about it. Maybe just check with adsense and see if you find an answer there.

hi Scott,

Thank you so much for looking into that! I’m not sure exactly what to do about it at this point, but I’ll try to see if there is any information there. The site is getting clicks in Adsense, but it’s probably getting less than it should if there is a problem. I’ll try to research it and see if I can find anything more about it. I’ve been finding more errors on the graphic organizer pages, but so far I have been able to fix what I’ve found. I think some things got messed-up when published. Thank you again for all of your help!! :relaxed:

Most probably totally unconnected to your problem Cynthia, but I had an identical problem with one of my websites after I switched nameservers when I tried Cloudflare.

I made several changes to my home page but absolutely none of them would show up when published. When I checked the files on my host they all showed correctly, but no matter what I did - flushing the cache, deleting files and then republishing, the new pages refused to show. After switching my nameservers back to the originals, the problem was solved instantly.

Thank you for sharing that, because somehow, maybe it’s related to my problem. Not too long ago, I moved the website from one web hosting company to another. The old one changed, and I didn’t like it at all anymore, but I do like the new one so far. I wonder if this is causing problems with the site, and Google is saying I have 2 types of sites, an http one and an https one. I never made an https one or had a secure site. I don’t know that much about these things, but maybe some of it is hosting related. Thanks for letting me know about that!
